Our Passion!
Search & Genealogy Services believes that all parties in an adoption should have the right to information.  Owner, Juli Claussen, is a strong advocate for open adoptions.

Due to Juli Claussen's former role as a Social Worker, she is familiar with procedures used in private and agency adoptions.  This experience equips us with the empathy and skill required in sensitive situations.

Having access to the most current people-search databases,  Search & Genealogy Services has the resources and contacts necessary to resolve particularly tough cases.  We are familiar with little known resources and are quite creative in finding ways around information roadblocks.
One-of-a-kind resource for birth families and adoptees with Cook County, Illinois adoptions 1934 - 1963 and some years beyond!

Search & Genealogy Services can quickly provide birth families the names of the adoptive parents and can give adoptees the name they were given at birth and often the name of a birth parent, all from the "legal notices of adoption" and "petitions to adopt" published in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.  There is no risk because there is no charge if the information is not found.

Instant access to the California Birth Index (1905 - 1995) and the Ohio Birth Index (1959 - 1996).
Search & Genealogy Services specializes in the Midwest region of the United States, with concentration in Illinois, including Chicago (Cook County).
"Recently, in two short hours I was able to find the birth mother (in Illinois) of an adoptee client who had been searching for years."  Juli Claussen, Owner
Illinois is a particularly tough state because adoption files are sealed and can only be opened by court order.  The only other options sanctioned by state government are the adoption registry and the confidential intermediary program, which can be quite expensive and requires a judge's order.  However, there are legal ways to obtain information if one knows the ins and outs of the system, where to look, and the right contacts.
Search & Genealogy Services can provide adoptees with their birth parent's family history.  Have you wondered what your ethnic background is or if an ancestor served in the Civil War?  Perhaps another researcher has already completed a family tree.  We can connect you with those researchers or do the research in-house
In a recent case, a birth father was found to be deceased, but Search & Genealogy Services was able to locate a researcher who had traced the client's family all the way back to the 1600's in France, and was happy to provide the adoptee with a written family history.  We also located the birth father's other children, and the client was reunited with the siblings.
Contact Search & Genealogy Services for an initial, no-obligation consultation.  We're always ready to hear your story and help you in any way we can!
